I have some new posts at Musical Dreams and Angelic Dreams that you should check out if interested.  I have a lot on my plate but will hopefully be back to writing poetry within this year. I appreciate all my readers and hope that you all will enjoy the other two ‘connected’ blogs as well. Posts on Muscial Dreams is more of a daily life blog and reveals some insight into what I have been handling; along with my nerdy insights to topics I am interested in.  Angelic Dreams is where I like to post my short stories.  I am currently gathering information for a religious post on Musical Dreams.

Thank you all for reading and hope to see you ‘here’ soon.

heart ticking loudly
maddening in its eccentricity
burning the past
with the flames
of tomorrow

the universe speaks
but who will listen
to its secrets

clock winds up for the pitch
and strikes out
the darkened prophet
as the sky
rains down anguish and
from its mind

a web of dreams
wiped from the face
of regret
and sung into the ears
of an unknown generation

hail to the wind
as it hurls the dreams
into the minds of others

Don’t Dare To Sleep

I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide
My dead laughter echoing there
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

In your subconscious I’ll abide
It may be more than you can bear
I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide

I’ll be the ultimate dream guide
Also the ultimate nightmare
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

And now I would like to confide
Your mind is my personal lair
I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide

But since my sense of humor died
Your comfort’s the least of my cares
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide
I will always be lurking there
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

I’ll take your thoughts on a train ride
Don’t whine, don’t say it isn’t fair
I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide

And since my sense of humor died
I’ll haunt your soul for many years
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

And when you look up to the skies
Trying to rely on prayer
I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide

Even when I’ve broken your pride
And going insane is near
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

I’ll always be by your side
Your mind is mine, I do declare
I’ll haunt your dreams, you cannot hide
Don’t dare to sleep, don’t close your eyes

Wicked Embrace

This wicked embrace it ties
My hopes and dreams, do they lie
In the blank face of memory
Scream these questions at the sky
Drown the answers in the deep sea
Filled with tears the gods have cried
This wicked embrace, it ties

We hear the dark lullaby
The end of all games draws nigh
The thoughts of one, the thoughts of three
Wherein the giants do sigh
Their oversized hearts filled with glee
Thoughts extinguishing the night
My hopes and dreams, do they lie

The wings of hope, do they fly
The shackles of peace, are they free
My hopes and dreams, do they lie
This wicked embrace, it ties

I was going to post this with audio, but our other computer is broken down at the moment. Boo! I’ll post some audio when we get it fixed. Have a great day all!

Revenge of the Damned

heads outside my window
speaking the language of the dead
their voices strained with agony
their souls lost forever in the void
they seek retribution
they seek a change
from their tortured existence
their voices rise in harmony
cursing the one
who had damned them
cursing the one who laughed
at their misfortune
cursing he who thought
he ruled their world
their voices
lifted upon the air
and carried by the wind
reached the wicked one
he heard their chant and laughed
when blood flew from his mouth
when he fell to the ground
and his head
floated to the ones he damned
when they devoured him
his soul caught in limbo
as they now laughed
at him
relishing his taste
in their revenge
their spirits rose
and disappeared

this poem is expanded from a dream I had in 1989.
make of it what you will.

Soul Tickler

fault line running

down my heart

quakes with ease

laughter of the

finds my vocal chords

and tickles my soul

eat their laughter

or die frowning

the choices we make

to stay alive

Rise Up

I’m rising up…I’ve had enough. ~ Adelita’s Way

Rise up, O men [and women], of God!
Have done with lesser things.
Give heart and mind and soul and strength
To serve the King of Kings. ~ William P. Merrill

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. Isaiah 60:1

For it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:14

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast. psalm 139:9-10

Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. psalm 139:23-24

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. In Christ – We will be made alive. Ephesians 2:10

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? Psalm 139:7

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed… Acts 9:40

And when he (Paul) had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. Acts 20:36

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6

“Let us break their chains,” they say, “and throw off their fetters.” Psalm 2:3

I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. John 8:51

…and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? John 11:26

The Hourglass

This horror poem was written in 1993.  It was accepted in 1995 for publication after my teacher helped me edit it. My father, thinking it was a “scam”, didn’t allow me to sign the authorization papers and send them back in..but being the hopeful writer – I still hold joy in the fact that something I wrote when I was 12 was good enough to be published.

Painting by Michael Whelan

The night grows dark around me

The hourglass runs low

The thing I see surrounds me

I have nowhere else to go

The thing I see grows nearer

I’ve nowhere else to go

The shape of it grows clearer

The hourglass runs low

The night grows bright around me

The shape before me clears

It’s him – the one who hurt me

 Author of all my fears

He laughs and tries to grab me

I’ve nowhere else to go

Screaming – I’ll never be free

The hourglass runs low

My thoughts – turn on a whim

I see what I’m here for

Blood everywhere – I killed him

Hourglass is no more.

Painting by Michael Whelan

Can you hear me calling? Whispering?

Whisper softly so I may hear your name, your voice, and sing along to it’s melancholic melody. Whisper softly so I may look into your soul and see your grace .. your love .. and your honor.

Can you hear the sound of your soul dying? Or does it whisper to you from across the room? In the stillness of night, I cry out your name. Do you hear my grief? Do my thoughts sound like screams in your mind? Do you understand my confusion and my fear? In the stillness of night I hear you calling. I roll over, but you are not there. I open my eyes, but I cannot see you. My chaotic thoughts are the fuel that feeds your fire; they are the food that fills your empty stomach.

Angel’s Kiss

Painting by Todd Lockwood

Angel’s kiss that shattered the daylight

To live a century in two nights

A love that felt it’d last forever

A lone heart refusing to ignite

Disbelief in the light bearer

Even when they see the firelight

Angel’s kiss that shattered the daylight

Demons causing mischief at midnight

Everything looks better in hindsight

You find out your angel’s a biter

And still your cold heart fails to ignite

How to deal with an ancient fighter

When she sees your face in the twilight

To live a century in two nights

Haunting love story choked with foresight

Pinprick of blood caused from a dagger

To live a century in two nights

Angel’s kiss that shattered the daylight
