Heartbreak

heart ticking loudly
maddening in its eccentricity
burning the past
with the flames
of tomorrow

the universe speaks
but who will listen
to its secrets

clock winds up for the pitch
and strikes out
the darkened prophet
as the sky
rains down anguish and
heartache
from its mind

a web of dreams
wiped from the face
of regret
and sung into the ears
of an unknown generation

hail to the wind
as it hurls the dreams
into the minds of others

heartbreak

Litany

Bind the hearts that would do me ill
Enlighten their minds with the peace of one
And let their evil thoughts be still

I’ve cried an ocean, these tears are real
Their stains on the pillows, dried by the sun
Bind the hearts that would do me ill

God, grant the ability to deal
With all of life’s hardships and with life’s fun
And let their evil thoughts be still

God, grant the ability to heal
The heart, the mind, the feelings of stun
Bind the hearts the would do me ill

Innocent standings upon the hill
Let the rain come down, downhill it does run
And let their evil thoughts be still

Take this hurt heart, give it a refill
Where was the support when I came undone
Bind the hearts that would do me ill
And let their evil thoughts be still.

Lost

Three Days Grace Vivo

Anyone who knows me knows this is one of my favorite bands. It’s actually a family favorite-as soon as my brother in law gets his guitar fixed, we are going to do a horribly sung cover of this song (with yours truly singing off key like a beast). Anyway. The following sappy triolet is what I came up with after listening to this song. Enjoy, make fun, whatevs. huzzah!

Losing myself was never so fun
As when I was lost in you
It was precious moments in the sun
Losing myself was never so fun
Where had it all begun
This magical thing called you
Losing myself was never so fun
As when I was lost in you.

A Night and A Day

A night, a day, the darkness that binds
My heart, my soul, taken for a ride
The sky, the earth, the world that unbinds

I ask, what’s the point of being kind
A heart so blue, it has only lied
A night, a day, the darkness that binds

God’s presence, always seeking to find
His ear I always seek to confide
The sky, the earth, the world that unbinds

And looking back on sight that is hind
Will all this hurt remain by my side
A night, a day, the darkness that binds

An angel’s kiss on my weary mind
Life caught in a nightmarish landslide
The sky, the earth, the world that unbinds

O, Lord, I don’t wish to be unkind
My heart, my soul, taken for a ride
A night, a day, the darkness that binds
The sky, the earth, the world that unbinds

Sunbeam

Painting by Victoria Frances

I caught a sunbeam on it’s way down to the cellar.

It enchanted the air with tranquility

and warmed our hearts with joy.

A sunbeam to warm you,

A moonbeam to charm you,

A sheltering angel

so nothing can harm you.
